Second Grade
To begin the new year, the second graders made 3-D color wheels. This project used both symmetry and color mixing to make a great reminder of the color wheel and our tertiary colors. Tertiary colors are a primary color plus a secondary color such as yellow-green and red-violet. As a special treat, we added some glitter glue!
Presenting: Yarn Drawings
The second grade students looked at different tapestries from various South American cultures. We looked at the many patterns, shapes and colors, using them as inspiration to design our own. Drawing with yarn was new and a little sticky for most of us. We persisted through these obstacles for some very colorful results.

The second grade teachers co-taught a lesson with Ms. Beaird bout cause and effect. We experimented with watercolors, bubbles, salt and glue to observe many different causes and effects first hand.
